Description.

This artwork is a tribute to Helen, a Grandmother, ally and the heart of her family. Though not Indigenous herself, she embraced culture with love and gave strength and belonging to those around her, including her son-in-law, a survivor of the Stolen Generations.

Commissioned by her Grandson in her honour, this piece includes gathering circles to represent family sitting together, with journey lines symbolising connection and growth. Earthy browns and greens represent the grounding nature of family and Country, black reflects both the sorrow of loss and the strength of memory. Deep blues represent ocean and healing, while shining bronzes reflect warmth and legacy. White outlines symbolise the spirit of Helen, an ever-present guiding light.

This is a tribute to a great woman and her family who she liked to refer to as “her people”.

Materials

Canvas I only paint on the highest quality double primed 100% cotton fine art canvas.
Paints I use either Jonsonja or Mattisse matte flow acrylic paint for all of my artworks.
Please check the product details for sizing and if the artwork is on stretched (ready to hang) or unstretched canvas (requires framing). Please contact us to discuss framing options.

Care Instructions

Do not expose paintings or prints to direct sunlight.
Display your art in a cool, dry place.
Gently clean your canvases with a soft, damp cloth.
Avoid using household chemical cleaners, as they can damage the artwork.
Wrap your prints in acid-free archival paper before storing or transporting them.
Never stack multiple paintings against each other.

Framing

Artworks marked 'Acrylic on stretched canvas' are pieces that are ready to hang, where the canvas is stretched around a wooden frame, you can opt to add a frame upon delivery or we can always help with adding a frame. Items marked "Acrylic on unstreched canvas" are paintings on a sheet of canvas which can be rolled up and stretched/framed upon delivery. Please get in touch for any framing enquiries.
