This artwork shows a family out bush through traditional Aboriginal symbolism. At the centre of the piece, U-shapes show people sitting together around the traditional symbol for campfire, representing family, connection, shared journeys, food and love. Leaf shapes represent bush medicine and the healing power of Country, while journey lines and intricate dot work show the paths we walk together. Deep greens represent the healing power of Country, teals and aquas reflect the flow of water and life, earthy reds and metallic bronze carry the radiance and energy of the sun and golds symbolise our ancestor’s guiding light.
