This custom recreation of Medicine was created for a collector in Kansas, drawing together themes of healing, Country and personal journey.
Bush medicine leaves represent healing, care and the passing down of knowledge through generations. Journey lines show not just a path travelled and a life lived but how everything is connected.
Gathering places represented by traditional symbols of campfires and U-shaped symbols of people show family and friends, past, present and future.
The blues, greens and earth tones speak to land and water, tying back to wide open spaces and a strong connection to place through childhood. White and gold represent memory, spirit and the presence of those who continue to guide and watch over us.
A commissioned recreation of the original artwork Medicine, created for Bernita.
