Description

“Ocean Dreaming” is a piece that embodies the eternal connection between the Indigenous peoples and the vast oceanic realms. Inspired by the Dreamtime, the painting captures the essence of the sea’s rhythmic motion, portrayed through the rolling waves depicted in dark blues, light blues, blacks, and whites.

The dark blues symbolise the depths of the ocean and its profound significance in Indigenous cosmology. Light blues evoke the shimmering surface of the water, reflecting the dance of sunlight upon the waves. Blacks represent the unknown depths, the hidden stories, and the profound mysteries that lie beneath the surface.

The dots represent elements of the natural world, ancestral spirits, the interconnectedness of all living beings and the importance of preserving and honouring cultural heritage for generations to come.
