Quandongs are more than just bush tucker, they’re a part of my family’s story.
The central symbol represents my Nanna and us kids out bush gathering Quandongs by hand while she told us stories about our family and taught us about the land. Then we’d use the sweet red fruits to make Quandong pies.
Bright red berries represent Quandongs alongside golden medicine leaves representing good health and spirit. Rippling metallic dot work symbolises family, tradition and the passing down of knowledge while natural greens and ochres symbolise healthy Country.
My Nana was known for using Quandongs in her art, a style I learned from her and still use today.
